Piceno
In the Piceno area there are many medieval towns full of artistic interest: bridges, abbeys, squares, museums, churches and archeological areas.
Ascoli Piceno is a beautiful and ancient city founded by the Piceni who, according to the tradition, arrived in Piceno between VII and VI centuries B.C., guided by a woodpecker, a Mars’ sacred bird. Ascoli was a Roman colony (286 B.C.) and has still traces of medieval architecture and Renaissance monuments, squares, churches, towers, belltowers and museums.
The hillside and mountainside of Marche have remained untouched by development and modernity. So the immense patrimony of history, art and culture remained virtually intact. Ancient castles and unchanged traditions are still waiting to be discovered.
